RESTAURANT

Our restaurant is built in neorussian style. In this style were built many cathedrals, mansions, towers and station-houses in Russia.
We named our restaurant by a cossak word “stan” which means: a place to stop and settle down, build houses and family life. In 19th century the Cossacks settlements were called “stanitsa” from the word “stan”.
There are a lot of bright images, portraits, photographs and pictures in our restaurant.

Have a look at the painting “Cossack woman Annushka”. It was created by kuban artist Alexander Saidoff. Hospitable hostess invites us to join her meal. Annushka is dressed in the traditional costume of the Black Sea Cossack woman. At her chest you can see beads(manista). They are made of natural corals. Together with beads Cossack women wore coins-ducats.
Painting “Black Sea Cossacks are landing in Taman”.
The author is kuban artist Igor Pomussky. The painting is based on real historical event: landing of the Cossack flotilla in Taman. He shows the costumes as detailed as possible: wide trousers, bright waistband, shirts with wide sleeves. The central figure is army captain(colonel). He wears expensive red jerkin.
Have a look at the Mechanical piano. It is hand-made work with built in pianola. Was constructed in 1907 in Germany. Pianola is an device that transforms piano into a mechanical one. The keys are made of elephant ivory.
Décor of the walls and wallpapers is in French technology. The wallpapers are made by individual order. We can read basic commandmens on them. The wallpapers are painted by hands without machinery work. This makes them unique.
Our restaurant is built like a house of ataman. They had veranda in their houses so do we. From our veranda it is a beautiful view to the river and park. Here we have got children’s room. Children were brought up strictly in Cossack families. They were tought to work. Have a look at the photo. It is mazanka – an old type of Cossack houses. It is made of branches of trees mixed with clay. Here there is photo ‘cossack with horse’, horse riding were very popular in those years. They often organized horse riding to show their skills of riding.
At the second floor we have got a lot of costumes.

At the entrance to the ceremonial hall you can see “Burka and papakha”. Burka is an outerwear for men made of goat or sheep wool. Papakha is a karakul hat. Burka does not get wet. Besides it was almost impossible to cut it by sword.
Along the walls we can see men and women Cossack costumes which belong to different historical periods.
Upper we can see pictures of atamans. The 1st ataman was Zahari Chepega. He is the city’s founder. Ataman Grigorii Rashpil organized women education, cultural and trade communications. Ataman Fyodor Bursak founded schools and chirches. Ataman Michail Babich was the last of kuban atamans, he worked a lot for the development of economics, culture, creation of historical memorials.
In the centre of course we can see Catherine 2nd . She gave the Krasnodar to Cossacks as a present, because they were brave and good soldiers.
Ecaterinodar’s coat of arms. Two guard Cossacks stand by both sides. In the 1st and 4th quarters there is a fortress with double-headed eagle. In the 2nd and 3rd quarters two banners are crossed.
The Kuban region’s coat of arms. We can see a fortress. In the centre double-headed eagle.
Krasnodar’s coat of arms. Accepted in 2005. Based on the Ecaterinodar’s coat of arms.

On the walls we can read fragment from document which Catherine 2nd gave to Cossacks. This document let them to own the kuban lands.
Here there is a Cossack veranda. We can see a lot of old and rare photos here. The Krasnodar museum gave them to us as a present. The most interesting is photo ‘A hundred cossacks’. It was made when cossacks arrived to St.Petersburg to serve Nikolay1st..
One more interesting photo is Cossack wedding. The groom is holding hand-kerchief. It is the present from the bride. There was a custom: a girl gifted a hand-kerchief to boy she liked best. It meant that he was permitted to court and propose to her. It was kept for the rest of life.
And of course we have VIP hall. Special place for special guests. Furniture is brought from Warsaw. Cupboard is from Europe. On the wall you can see an old French wall clock. In the corner there is an European gramophone – an old musical instrument.
